Updating maps on garmin nuvi 200
I would be interested to know any other discreprincies people may find..Hey, Im on the verge of buying this 250W it comes with 2009 maps, will I be able to upgrade for free when it arrives? It is used by the rest of the family and company from time to time chiefly in Johannesburg for business and social trips. Now I downloaded all the updates and mapinstaller etc etc What I dont understand is it asks me to select 'blocks' off the map in the mapinstaller software , as to what I want to load onto the unit... suddenly I can only load johannesburg and surrounds and my route from gaborone.Garmin typically charges about for a single update, Magellan about , and Tom Tom charges about – depending on the map technology.(These prices are for North America maps.) For more hard-core GPS users however, purchasing a map update subscription might be the way to go.Am I misunderstanding everything or do I need to now buy like a 2gb memory card to handle more??Am I now supposed to load the section of map I need for my exact route every time I travel?
We only sell the latest maps that are available (Garmin update these every 3 to 4 months) and a map card can be purchased from here Ireland & UK SD card If your sat-nav has a 'LM' designation, for example, the nuvi 2415LM or nuvi 2597LM then your device comes with free lifetime map updates.
A couple of closed down garages are still floating about on the maps also.
Although thats not essential, it's the essential things that matters.
Garmin and Tom Tom both announced map update subscriptions this year, following on the heels of the impressive NAVIGON Fresh Maps offer.
Magellan has yet to announce any sort of map update subscription.
